Species: Human, however she became a sorceress in the middle of the game.

Appearance: Well Rinoa falls a bit in the short side with a height of 5’3’’ ½, she’s quite slender but despite this her body measurements seems to be accordingly proportioned, with snow-white skin and warm grey eyes falling in contrast with her mid-back layered jet black hair with three caramel highlights on each side. All in all Rinoa is a pretty girl with a slight air of fragility that sometimes inspires other people to protect her.

Her normal outfit consists in a blue long sleeveless duster sweater that has her trademark imprint of white wings in the back, matching arm warmers, underneath the sweater she wears a thin strapped ‘V’ cut top, black biker shorts with a denim skirt over them and a pair of silver buckled ankle boots. The only accessories that she has are a black ribbon tied on her left arm and a silver necklace where she has her mother’s and griever rings.

Personality: The first conclusion people have of Rinoa is that she’s an honest, carefree and lovable person and she is, but she can also be quite a stubborn, persistent and fierce young woman when the occasion calls for it which mostly is to get something that she wants. The young sorceress is quite a sweet, friendly and charismatic person, traits that seems to draw people to her and instantly like her.

Rinoa is a person that most of the times is constantly lead by her emotions, meaning that she tends to think more with heart than with her head something that sometimes gets her in a bit of trouble, but making her quite an unselfish person that will help anyone that needs it at the best of her abilities. When she’s angry, she’s a force to be reckoned with, because she won’t hesitate to speak her mind without any type of reserve to tell you just when you have done something wrong, immoral or stupid that she doesn’t approves of and might end even hitting on rare occasions, she’s a woman living pretty much with her heart on her sleeve but that doesn’t mean she’s stupid, Rinoa is quite an intelligent and clever woman due to her upbringing with a military father and a high society environment, despite giving an overall “innocent” aura she’s a strong willed woman that can take care of herself on most occasions.

However like any normal person, she has her weaknesses, Rinoa also feels a deep insecurity about her own abilities and herself needing to have people around her to keep her strong, she’s also deathly afraid of rejection and isolation from others, in a way she learned to compensate the affection her father was unable to openly express after her mother’s death by having people around her that liked and cared for her, being alone is her biggest fear and her new status as a sorceress only reaffirmed this fear of being left alone and isolated but this is a side she rarely shows and have only been seen by the people she truly and fully trusts.

In DepthAbilities: Contrary to Squall and the others, Rinoa didn’t had any specialized training in weapons like the one they received in the Garden but that didn’t meant she couldn’t fight, it’s probable that she taught herself to fight with a special weapon called the ‘Blaster Edge’, a powerful and effective projectile weapon in her world, till she became an expert on it, also despite her appearance she’s quite strong and fast. Upon her arrival to Manhattan the Shooting Star was nowhere to be found leaving her weaponless.

Rinoa most impressive ability is being a sorceress, a person that can naturally use magic as easily as breathing; the power she received from different sorceress cumulated making her quite a powerful spell caster with a wide range of abilities that expand from telepathy/telekinesis/mind control to phasing through solid objects, when she became a sorceress her speed and strength augmented.

But at her arrival to Manhattan most of her abilities are restricted, telepathy/telekinesis/mind control, etc, are completely blocked for her use, her strength and speed returned to the same level it was prior to becoming a sorceress and while she can still use magic the spells are not as strong or effective as they will usually be not to mention that casting them takes a bit of effort and energy, she seems to be able to only use the most basic ones while the most powerful, while probably still available will take a lot more of effort and energy for their casting and using them wouldn’t be recommendable for her.

Weaknesses: Well due to her personality Rinoa is very prone to get in trouble since she tends to act instead of properly thinking in the situation at hand and the repercusitions it might bring for her, that had sometimes landed her in difficult situations that had put her life in danger.

Ironically enough her major weakness lies in her greatest strength: Her sorceress powers and the corruption of said powers. Just like the powers can be cumulative this power can also be influenced by the personality of the sorceress that holds the power, receiving the powers of an Evil sorceress seems to have an important influence for the corruption due to the remnants of the combined personalities from past sorceress.

While Rinoa initially received her powers from Sorceress Edea, she also took on the powers of the evil Sorceress Adel and with the lack of a knight by her side to remind Rinoa of her humanity and core personality, she is prone to fall into the corruption of the powers and turn into an evil sorceress herself something that terrifies her.

Manhattanite or outsider? Outsider.
History: The only child of General Fury Caraway and Julia Heartilly, that had been originally in love with Laguna but he left to battle and never returned, it was then that Fury consoled Julia on her loss, fell in love, got married and started a family. Due to his father position in the Galbadian Army her family settled in Deling City, where her mother eventually became a famous singer and pianist, Rinoa pretty much grew up in an upper class lifestyle raised by her loving parents the first years of her life.

When Rinoa was five her mother died in a car accident ending the ideal and perfect life she had with two loving parents, after the death of her mother her relationship with her father started to get more and more distant with each passing year due to the emotional neglect Fury unconsciously he had for her due to his inability to show his true feelings now that Julia was gone, this treatment made Rinoa doubt the love and care her father did had but was unable to express, their relationship got so stranded that it came to the point that Rinoa only referred to him as “that man” and changed her last name to her mother’s maiden name.

Growing up with an important Galbadian general enlightened her about the unfair political situation Galbadia had over its people, this new understanding spurred a lot of discussions between father and daughter on their different views of what was wrong and right, despite the fact of not getting along Rinoa never hated her father they just didn’t understood each other and they were too stubborn to bend down to accept the point of view of the other, when the situation in her house got to a critical point that she couldn’t stand anymore she ran away and it was then that she joined the Forrest Owls as a kind of strategist and apparently settling in Timber with her father being quite aware of her activity in the rebel group.

While she was in Timber she met Seifer and finding out about the SeeD alongside the possibility to hire them to help the Forrest Owls to liberate Timber, a year later she attended the SeeD graduation ball meeting Squall and where Seifer introduced her to Headmaster Cid so she could explain him their situation in Timber as well as to arrange a method of payment for the employment of the SeeD, Headmaster Cid agreed to help and dispatched a small group of SeeD consisting of newly graduated Squall, Selphie and Zell.

But what started as an effort to free Timber from the Galbadian oppression turned into something more complicated from what Rinoa expected, after a failed attempt at kidnapping President Deling she was then dragged to the assassination plot of Sorceress Edea, an attempt that also failed landing them in prison as well as the destruction of the Trabia Garden, destruction that Balamb Garden was able to avoid. When they faced Edea the second time in the also mobile Galbadia Garden the defeated sorceress unconsciously transferred the sorceress power to Rinoa leaving her in a comatose state after being possessed by Ultimecia to order Seifer to look for the Lunatic Pandora.

While she was in a “coma”, Squall took her to Esthar in an attempt to reach Ellone and find out what had happened to her since no one was aware yet that she was now a sorceress, once in Esthar they were sent to the Lunar Base where Ultimecia posses Rinoa again to force her to release Sorceress Adel and then left to die in space after having done so, where she would have surely died if Squall hadn’t gone out to save her and the sheer luck at finding the Ragnarok. While returning from space she realizes that she’s now a sorceress and decides to have her powers sealed to prevent any further manipulation from Ultimecia or power corruption.

Despite her choice, she’s saved by Squall and the others, almost immediately after this Laguna reveals them the plan to use Ellone’s ability to send a person to the past and Rinoa’s body to create the Time Compression to allow them to defeat Ultimecia, with the plan set they proceed to sneak in the Lunatic Pandora fighting their way to the top to fight the still ‘asleep’ Adel, somewhere along the fighting Seifer manages to get a hold of Rinoa taking her to Adel’s chamber so “the two sorceress can become one” and being unable to stop it she’s juctioned into Adel, when Adel is defeated the dying sorceress transfers her sorceress power to the willing Rinoa (that had agreed to take them before hand) leaving her as the only sorceress in that time she’s immediately possessed by Ultimecia, moment where Ellone uses her ability and the Time Compression is finally achieved.

Through this stage they fight and defeat a twelve different sorceress from different times and places, with the possibility that at the moment of their death their powers might have also ended transferred to Rinoa since she was the only candidate to take them, before finally reaching Ultimecia's castle where they finally defeat Ultimecia but just when they are ready to their own time...Rinoa blacks out waking up in Manhattan alone and with some of her abilities limited.
